Letter from the Principal
JoAnn Laskin

This has been a fantastic end to an amazing school year. The old saying is that if March comes in like a LION it goes out like a lamb. Here are just a few highlights of what we have been doing over the past several weeks.

• Our fifth graders participated in a frog dissection with our high school biology students.

• Our elementary drama production, featuring 33 talented fourth and fifth graders, performed “101 Dalmatians” was completely sold out for both nights.

• Our fourth graders made their annual pilgrimage to America’s oldest city, St. Augustine as a culmination of their Florida studies.

• Sagemont Parent Academies, a new addition this year, presented our final offering on Wednesday, March 17, featuring Dr. E. Katia Moritz, on changing thinking and changing behaviors as well as utilizing cognitive strategies to change children’s behaviors.

• The week of March 22 through March 25 was our annual Super Sagemont week which culminated on Thursday, March 25 with Super Sagemont Day. Coach Crisona planned an unbelievable series of events for the children. Many parents stopped by to enjoy the fun.

• Our annual spelling bee and geography bee featured students who excel in these areas in a live competition with grade level winners receiving a beautiful plaque.

• Our students have been practicing on a monthly basis test taking skills and strategies in preparation for our standardized tests which were administered to all students in kindergarten through eighth grade the week of April 26.

• On April 23 our chorus performed at Universal Studios, Orlando in the Universal Stars Performance Program.

We value your involvement and hope that you will continue to participate in your child’s education by volunteering.

Warm Regards,

JoAnn Laskin, Principal
