A Message from the President
Brent Goldman
.
Dear Sagemont Parents,
It is hard to believe that we are about to conclude another school year. I am a strong believer that the success of a school year is directly related to the school’s senior class. We have all been fortunate to have an extremely talented group of seniors this year. They have been leaders in our school and community. They have starred on a state level in both the arts and athletics. Most importantly, they have been accepted to the finest colleges and universities in our country.
I am especially proud of the seniors who have been with us since elementary school. Eighteen members of Sagemont’s class of 2011 began their Sagemont careers at our Lower School Campus. These students (Raul Artigas, Brett Bales, Spencer Booth, Nicholas Cardamone, Emilio Chaves, Rachel Cohen, Cristiana Giancarlo, Laura Hochstein, Susan Hurwitz, Jordan LaSpada, Fatima Lakhani, Dean Malahais, Michael Milam, Eros Miranda, Beatriz Mourad, Isabel Rangel, Maria Sanchez and Samuel Vivas) will always have a special place in my heart. There is nothing more gratifying than watching a young boy or girl grow-up into an impressive young man or woman.
We have had some unprecedented success stories this school year. Our seniors have led the way! The boys’ basketball team won the 2011 State Championship led by seniors Rod Days, Vinny Delucia, Erving Morales, Dylan Flynn, Chris Penny, Adam Kaplan and David Beneby. The boys’ tennis team won the 2011 State Championship led by seniors Zachary McCourt and Valery Preobrazhenskiy. The Sagemont drama program was nominated for 10 Cappie Awards including Best Play for Dracula. Seniors nominated for Cappie Awards include Alan Abdin, Chris Merlino, Isabel Rangel, Emily Maddox, Tyler Stanley, Laura Hochstein, Dean Malahais, and Elie Gottlieb. Additionally, our production of Dracula received straight superior ratings in all categories at the Florida State Thespian Festival.
Most importantly, 100% of the Sagemont Class of 2011 will be attending college in the fall. Our seniors were accepted to colleges such as Georgetown, Cornell, Princeton, Georgia Tech, USC and the United States Air Force Academy. They have also earned multi million dollars in merit scholarship money from the school’s that accepted them. The final total is still being tabulated at this time.
We are excited to honor the Sagemont Class of 2011 at our annual Senior Dinner on Thursday, May 26th at Signature Grand and at Graduation on Friday, May 27th at the Athletic Center.
Finally, we always try to keep you up-to-date with our many success stories. The best way to read about them and share them with friends and family is on our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/sagemont).
I look forward to finishing the 2010-2011 school year “strong” and honoring our outgoing seniors at graduation. As always, feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
Go Lions!
Sincerely,
Brent Goldman, Ed.D
