A Message from the Performing Arts Department

 

The Sagemont School Thespian Troupe 6915 has been hard at work throughout the 2010-2011 school year, achieving excellence in high school theatre.  Twenty students attended the District 13 Thespian Performance Assessment in December.  They competed in both performance and technical aspects of theatre.  Their categories and scores are listed below.

Elie Gottlieb- monologues: Finding the Sun by Edward Albee & Hamlet by William Shakespeare - SUPERIOR

Christopher Merlino was one of ten total recipients of a $1000 scholarship, which will go towards his college tuition at Florida State University’s top tier BFA acting program.

In addition to their individual performances, the Thespian Society had the great honor of presenting their production of Dracula for audiences at the State Festival.  The Mainstage production of Dracula received straight Superior ratings in all categories and played to sold out crowds at the Festival.  Additionally, the show has been nominated for 10 Cappies Awards.  The Cappies winners will be announced on May 17th at the Broward center for Performing Arts.  The nominees are as follows:
