Quill & Scroll
Quill and Scroll was organized April 10, 1926, by a group of high school advisers for the purpose of encouraging and recognizing individual student achievement in journalism and scholastic publication.
Since its founding, charters have been granted to more than 14,104 high schools in all 50 states and 44 foreign countries.
Objective:
To recognize and support the Journalism program at The Sagemont School. Members will be encouraged to enter various media contests, apply for journalism scholarships and extend their journalism endeavors outside of school.
Requirements for membership:
1. Must be of junior or senior classification. Second semester sophomores may be inducted at the end of their sophomore year with membership becoming effective at the beginning of their junior year.
2. Must have a minimum of a 3.5 GPA in general scholastic standing for the cumulative total of all high school work.
3. Must have done superior work in some phase of journalism or school publications work. They may be staffers of a magazine, newspaper, yearbook or radio/TV station.
4. Must be recommended by their teachers.
5. Must be approved by Mrs. Simmonds.
6. Must be approved by the Executive Director of Quill and Scroll.
