Middle & High School Home / Academics / Middle & High School Middle School & High School at Sagemont Prep Our middle and high school programs offer students a well-rounded, college-preparatory education. We help them thrive academically while also allowing them to explore their own interests and talents. We focus on a personalized approach, integrating project-based learning, technology, and small group instruction to ensure that every student is engaged and supported. With advanced coursework, internships, and travel opportunities, our students graduate from our school feeling confident, empowered, and ready for what comes next. Well-Rounded Curriculum In addition to core courses in English, Math, Science, and Social Studies, our students also have the chance to take a variety of engaging elective courses. These courses allow them to explore applications to the real world. These cycle based on interest and faculty expertise. They often include classes in the arts, engineering, computer science, world languages, physical education, and more. Our students use technology and engage in innovative projects and STEM activities to develop advanced digital literacy. This helps prepare them for jobs in the future. Our curriculum exceeds national standards and prepares our students for college admissions exams like the SAT and ACT. Signature Programs Middle School Writing Courses Writing is the cornerstone of middle school. Every student takes a writing course each year. In this class, they learn how to share their thoughts clearly. Our 8th grade class is modeled after AP Research. It helps our students learn how to find information, think critically, and build strong ideas. The writing program fosters confidence, creativity, and engagement in our students. They graduate with a solid foundation for success in high school, college, and beyond. High School Executive Internships We provide an Executive Internship program for our students who want to get real-world job experience. This is an honors elective class where our students work in professional settings, learning about careers they are interested in. Some students even do internships right on our campus, like helping to run our student café, Café Pride Rock, or working in technology, marketing, or sports management. What Sets Our Program Apart Advanced Placement (AP) Courses We offer AP courses, allowing our students to earn college credits while they are still in high school. These courses allow students to dive deeper into subjects they are passionate about while giving them a competitive edge for the future. Courses include Biology, Chemistry, Spanish Language, World History, Art History, and more. AP Capstone Diploma Program We are proud to offer the AP Capstone Diploma™ program. This helps our students learn skills like research, working in teams, and communicating well. It is based on two AP classes—AP Seminar and AP Research—where our students study real-world issues and learn how to use facts to make arguments. If students do well in these classes and pass four other AP exams, they can earn the AP Capstone Diploma™. This diploma is recognized by colleges. It shows that a student can think on their own, solve problems, and do advanced research. Week Without Walls Our Week Without Walls program takes learning outside of the classroom. During this week, they do fun activities like learning about forensic science with the FBI or pretending to fly lanes in simulators. Our students can also intern at local businesses. They also get to travel! They can visit U.S. National Parks, Washington, D.C., or even travel abroad to places like the Galapagos Islands, Portugal, and the Azores Islands. These trips help them learn about the world and use what they have learned in school. Clubs and Student Life Our students can join (or start!) different clubs that they are interested in. These clubs are led by students and cover everything from arts and science to sports and service. This helps our students explore their passions and make new friends. Being part of clubs also helps build leadership skills and a strong resume for college applications. Colleges like to see that students are well-rounded and get involved in things they care about. Learn more info on our Groups & Clubs page. Entrepreneurship in Action At Sagemont Prep, we have a student-run coffee shop called Pride Rock. It’s a place where students relax and learn about business. Students created a business plan, borrowed money from the school, and paid it back with profits. They also plan events like movie nights and live music. Now, they’re working on expanding the shop to have more space for their customers! Advisory Program Once a week, our high school students meet for an hour to talk about important topics like getting ready for college, growing as a person, and creating a healthy school environment. These meetings help our students develop skills that will help them do well in school and in life. Preparing for the Future College counselors help our students plan for their future. They help our students through everything from picking the right colleges to filling out applications. This makes sure that our students are well-prepared to achieve their goals. More info can be found on our College Guidance page. Electives Slide 1 Slide 2 Slide 3 Spanish We are proud that our students come from many different places and backgrounds. That is why we offer Heritage and Non-Heritage Spanish classes. These classes meet students where they are in their language journey. Heritage Spanish is for students who already know some Spanish or who have family who speak it. These classes help them hone their advanced skills in grammar, literacy, and cultural fluency. Non-Heritage Spanish is for students who are new to the language. These classes help them learn vocabulary, conversational skills, and cultural appreciation.
