Early Childhood Programs
The Sagemont School expertly combines academic learning experiences and structured play for our youngest learners in a fun, safe and nurturing environment. Our curriculum follows guidelines set by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), and is organized by age and stage of development. We also participate in the state-funded Voluntary Pre-K (VPK) program. Our teachers introduce new concepts and skills as the children progress, while reviewing and reinforcing existing skills. We are committed to making our curriculum challenging, exciting and meaningful.
Each classroom has a variety of centers where children build academic, social and emotional skills while interacting with others, following routines, and engaging in conflict resolution. Teachers change the focus of the centers periodically to stimulate new interests.
We use an activity-based approach, which integrates both student-centered and teacher-led instruction in the classroom. Students participate in small group learning and are given many opportunities to create and formulate their own ideas. There is a definite emphasis on real world application in every classroom. The needs of students with exceptional abilities are met through appropriate placement, grouping strategies, the use of technology, tailored assignments and personalized learning plans. Teachers are provided with intensive and ongoing training to help differentiate instruction.
At Sagemont, we believe that student-driven learning is essential. All students from grades K-12 participate in Student Led Conferences, during which students lead parents through a discussion of their work and established academic and social goals. This process allows the students to take ownership of their learning and be active participants in their progress and intentions for the future. This method also emphasizes critical thinking skills and personal planning, which are essential for student success.
We are excited you are considering Sagemont for your child’s education. We encourage you to experience the Sagemont difference for yourself by scheduling a private tour of our school to learn more.
