Our performing arts program offers learning opportunities for the novice, advanced, and competitive level student during elective classes and after school clubs.
In our middle school theater arts courses, students gain fundamental knowledge and skills in acting, directing, set design, costuming and theater management. In high school, students further develop their skills and study theater arts history from Greece to the American musical. All students in our theater courses must participate in at least one annual production.
Our music program gives students the opportunity to hear, perform, create and appreciate all types of music. Through these experiences, students can understand and apply the elements of music, experiment with the tools of music, develop an awareness and appreciation for past and present music, and express themselves creatively.
Our Lower School curriculum incorporates music in the homeroom classroom, as well as spending time in a music special two to three times a week. Students build a strong foundation in music by learning solfeggio frequencies and reading music. Students in third through fifth grade may also participate in the Lower School chorus, who hold several performances a year, including performances at the Cleveland Clinic and Weston Town Center.
Our Upper School programs include concert band, rock band, the history of Rock n’ Roll, chorus, keyboard, guitar and percussion ensemble. Musicians at our Upper School have participated in state and regional competitions and have received superior and excellent ratings by judges. Several members of the Sagemont Prep Lions Band have been chosen to participate in various honors bands throughout the state of Florida. All of our musicians enjoy performing at venues such as Universal Studios, Walt Disney World, Miami Heat games, and at the Marlins Stadium.
